Hola Guagua Pampanga! Kapampangan Pagmaragul ku!

 

Guagua, officially the Municipality of Guagua (Kapampangan: Balen ning Guagua; Tagalog: Bayan ng Guagua), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 117,430 people. 

 

Wawa (Lán-nâng: 偎岸, Hua-hua),[citation needed] which means "river mouth" (Kapampangan: alua or bukana), was the earliest recorded form of the town's name according to records dating back to 1590. The town is strategically located along a river which played a vital role in trade and transportation during the precolonial era.

Wawa was already a prosperous settlement when Spanish colonists took control of the town in the year 1561, from then on calling it Guagua, which is a Hispanised form of the original name. Indeed, archeological artifacts have been excavated in a nearby town which affirmed the existence of a prehistoric community in Guagua.

The Chinese have long been part in Guagua's social and economic mainstream. In the 18th century, they sought refuge in the town to escape discrimination and persecution in Manila. After their near-total slaughter, the Chinese lived in relative peace while they freely practiced their craft and mingled hand-in-hand with the local residents. The Chinese residents were merchants, masons, woodcarvers, carpenters, agriculturists and labourers. Their influence on the cultural and economic life of Guagua cannot be overlooked. The town could not have prospered so well without the economic services provided by the Chinese.

Pampanga is one of the provinces of the Philippines with really colorful (and at times bloody) Holy Week practices and rituals. It's quite close to Manila too. Which is why it's a good place to experience Holy Week, Mahal na Araw or Mal a Aldo.

Guagua,Pampanga has been one of our favorite out-of-town destinations for it boasts of so many good restaurants with culinary secrets and a delicious feast, waiting to be devoured. After all, Pampanga is the ‘Culinary Capital of the Philippines’.

Guagua, Pampanga is indeed place to visit.

   Noong unang panahon, sa isang malayo at liblib na lugar ay may mag-anak na naninirahan sa tabi ng kabundukan. Ang mag-asawa na si Aling Beti at Mang Fredo ay mga madasaling tao. Palagi silang tumatawag sa Dios, at tinuruan din nila ang kanilang mga anak sa pagdarasal at pagtawag sa Dios lalo na kapag sumasapit ang oras ng orasyon. Ang anak nila ay sina si Sani at Gino na mabait at magalang na mga anak. Palagi nilang sinusunod ang utos ng kanilang mga magulang at pagsapit ng orasyon ay nasa loob na sila ng bahay para makilahok sa pagdarasal kasama ang ina at itay nila. Madami ang natutuwa sa magkapatid dahil sa taglay nilang kabaitan at sila ang katuwang ng kanilang magulang sa pagtatanim at kilala ang mag-anak sa pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan.
